DMCC’s first social media campaign concludes with great success

At a ceremony today in Almas Tower, the tallest commercial tower in the Middle East, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of the DMCC Free Zone, presented a 500,000 AED donation to Emirates Red Crescent.

The donation was raised by the 85,000 community members in the DMCC Free Zone and everyone who joined together under #myDMCC. The month-long digital campaign was launched as part of DMCC’s celebrations to welcome its 10,000th member company. Everyone in DMCC and the wider community was invited to post pictures and stories on social media sites using the #myDMCC. For every post received, DMCC donated 50 AED to Emirates Red Crescent.

The closing ceremony featured highlights of Emirates Red Crescent’s recent efforts in Nepal and showcased how the #myDMCC donation will be used to rebuild a community of 50 houses affected by the earthquake and to provide medical supplies to Nepalese hospitals.

Mohammed Al Zaroni, director of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, Dubai branch, said: “We appreciate this noble humanitarian initiative from DMCC through engaging their 10,000 member companies in a truly human partnership. Together we are making a difference, and saving the lives of many Nepalese earthquake victims. The donation is especially timely as seasonal storms are about to arrive in Nepal, increasing the likelihood of outbreaks of disease.”

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC Executive Chairman, added: “Our #myDMCC campaign brought together innovation, technology and social contributions and as a result, we have helped Emirates Red Crescent to make a difference where it is needed most. DMCC always strives to be at the forefront of innovative and technically advanced initiatives that can bring communities together and further social causes.”

The #myDMCC campaign was the DMCC Free Zone’s first social media campaign that enabled all DMCC’s 10,000-plus member companies and the 85,000 people who live and work in the Free Zone to interact with DMCC entirely online. The digital campaign was part of the DMCC’s transformation into a completely online proposition, in line with the Smart Government initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai
