Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, was given a personal tour of the Czech Republic Pavilion at Expo 2020 as a guest of The Czech Mint.

During the tour, Ahmed Bin Sulayem was shown a CZK 100 million coin, minted from 999.9 purity gold, and weighing 130 kg. The coin was minted in 2019 to mark 100 years of the Czech koruna.

Members of the Czech Pavilion also explained the use of holographic technology in minting precious metal coins – a process that provides not only an ornamental effect but also an additional layer of security. He was then presented with a silver coin that was minted using holographic technology.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem was given insight into various other technologies on display at the Czech Pavilion including nanotechnology, which has been used to create the world’s smallest 3D-printed replica of the Great Mosque in Mecca. On display at the Czech Pavilion, the record-breaking gold-plated model of Al-Masjid Al-Haram measures 820 micrometres by 643 micrometres by 135 micrometres – the thickness of a sewing needle.
