After nearly a full year of VAT implementation in the UAE, many updates and clarifications have been released, which impact a variety of industries and businesses.
DMCC hosted the ‘Updates on Value Added Tax Seminar’ to learn how updates impact your business, how your systems and processes need to adapt. Attendees also learned how to file the VAT returns in accordance with the regulations of FTA Compliance and get solutions on how to mitigate and avoid VAT risks.
The seminar also announced the launch of DMCC VAT Clinics, which is a new DMCC initiative for the member companies to help them get reliable VAT related information free of charge.

With over 25 years of experience in corporate finance and accounting, Mr. Bata is a certified UAE TAX AGENT from the Federal Tax Authority, and a certified SOCPA VAT SPECIALIST from the Saudi Arabian General Authority of Zakat and Tax. He led VAT implementations across some of the largest companies in both countries, and has advised over 100 firms across all industries and sectors.

After graduating from Bocconi University Milan in 2004, Manuel began his career in accounting at Deloitte which allowed for accelerated learning and exposure to the operations and accounting intricacies of a variety of small and large businesses in Italy. Qualified CPA by Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2016, throughout his career, he joined BDO with senior roles. His major areas of expertise are tax, accounting and auditing with practical experience in international financial reporting standards, due diligence, cost controlling and reporting, tax compliance, corporate governance and internationalization processes. He recently joined SDAC CONSULTING DMCC as Senior Accounting Manager. His wide range of accounting experience, including PIE, enables him to provide relevant and timely advice and assistance to entrepreneurs with their internal accounting, periodic reporting, forecasting and ultimately the development and implementation of succession plans.
