DMCC in partnership with Careem is introducing bike-sharing in JLT – further enhancing connectivity and mobility within JLT and the city as a whole. Designed to address your micro-mobility needs, bike-sharing will allow visitors and residents to easily move within JLT, to and from metro stations and surrounding communities.
Quick, affordable and environmentally friendly, these pedal-assisted bikes can be easily found in multiple locations around the community. Conveniently located near the Dubai Metro stations or by the promenade, they are a great way to stay active and get around JLT. All you have to do is download the Careem BIKE app on your smartphone and unlock a bike nearest to you.
One of the first districts to welcome this smart mobility solution, JLT continues to support Dubai’s aim to be one of the most cycling-friendly and sustainable cities in the world. Bike sharing is designed to address your micro-mobility needs and solve for the first and last mile journeys to and from metro stations and between communities.
Pedal-assisted bikes are available at 80 stations around the city and can be rented through the Careem BIKE app. You can select a station, identify a free bike, rent it, and pick the next station for docking, all through the Careem BIKE app.The bikes can be taken from any station and returned to any station in the Careem BIKE share system.
Zones of operation include: Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Al Barsha, The Greens, Internet City, Media City, Palm Jumeirah, Deira, Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai Canal, Karama, Mankhool, Al Qusais, and Al Khawaneej as well as some communities on the outskirts of the city.
Riders can use streets, bike lanes, and bikewaysthroughout Dubai.
Download the Careem BIKE app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Log in with your Careem account details or sign up for a new account. Once your account is set up, you can choose a yearly, monthly, weekly or daily membership plan.
There are four membership options to choose from:
An overtime fee of AED 20 applies after 60 minutes.
With any active membership,you can take as many rides as you like as long as each trip is less than 60minutes. If you’re about to run out of time, simply return your bike to adocking station for a moment to avoid overtime fees.
Once you’ve signed up on the Careem BIKE appand have an active membership plan you can unlock any bike by either scanningthe QR code on the bike frame or entering the 5 digit code on the keypad on thedock. Once done, a green light appears on the dock andunlocks the bike. Remove the bike from the dock by lifting the seat or pullingbackwards on the handlebars.
If you keep the bike longerthan 60 minutes at a time, it’s an extra AED 20 for each additional 60 minutes. Remember to dock your bike before 60 minutes to avoid the extracharges.
Simply check the trip duration on the app.Once the trip time exceeds 60 minutes, you will incur over usage charges of AED20 for each additional 60 minutes.
Return the bike to any one of thestations with an open dock. You’ll be able to locate stations through the app.Match the triangle on the front of the bike with the dock and insert the bike.A green light appears on the dock and locks the bike in the dock.
