Diamond Industry Statistics

Since 2003, when the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) was established, Dubai has risen from anonymity to become one of the leading diamond trading hubs in the world. Today, Dubai is a major centre for rough and polished diamonds trade as well as a major regional consumption hub for diamonds and diamond jewellery. Almas Tower (the word 'almas' means 'diamond' in Arabic) has been the catalyst for growth, housing some of the biggest names in the industry from the mining sector down to retail shops. Dubai’s major trade partners are the African producing nations, the major processing centres in India and China and consumption hubs in Europe and the United States. Dubai’s logistics infrastructure and support have placed the emirate at the centre of the diamond world.
