Tenders and Auctions

Dubai Pearl Tenders

In 2009, the Dubai Pearl Exchange launched the Dubai Pearl Tender in an effort to integrate the pearl industry with the global market, as it is traditionally routed in the Far East, as well as create an active marketplace in Dubai through a member-based trading platform.

During the same year, the first ever private sale of over $5 million worth of the world’s rarest natural and gem quality pearls from collections of the top four leading pearl producers took place at DPE. It generated sales of over AED 3.5 million (US$ 1 million) in wholesale value. The tender also saw some single pieces achieving sale prices over AED 150,000 (US$ 50,000).

In January 2011, DPE successfully hosted two major international commercial pearl trade auctions at its headquarters in the Almas Tower, with a wholesale value of over $13.5 million. The trade auctions were held in conjunction with world’s top pearl farmers Paspaley Pearling Co, Jewelmer and Robert Wan and attracted over 100 pearl traders from more than 20 countries, including representatives from Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia. They were the first commercial trade auctions to be held outside of the Far East.

To this end, DPE invites leading pearl traders, jewellery manufacturers and its members, to private pearl tenders that bring some of the world’s most rare and sought-after gem quality natural and cultured pearls to the region.
