Coloured Stones
The global coloured gemstone sector has seen significant growth in the past few years as a result of consumer awareness, resulting in the expansion of the market to volume buyers of coloured stones. Dubai’s traditional focus on gold and diamonds has also gradually translated to an awareness of coloured gemstones and the market demonstrates strong growth potential.
According to a survey conducted and released by DMCC last year, the coloured stones market is set to expand, faster than other jewellery categories in the next five years, Coloured stones trade is expected to grow at around six per cent annually by 2010 and projected sales mix reveal that coloured stones will account for 26 per cent of total jewellery sales mix in Dubai by 2011.
